Blue Mountain Heart to Heart

BMH2H is a community-based organization whose mission is to promote public health with advocacy, education, prevention strategies, clinical services, and support for individuals across a spectrum of chronic conditions, with a special emphasis on HIV prevention and care. Through our efforts we hope to encourage an environment of dignity and improved quality of life for the entire community. Blue Mountain Heart to Heart has been serving clients and providing prevention education to communities in Southeast Washington since 1991.

Our Team—Staff

Everett Maroon, MPH

Executive Director
Everett Maroon

Everett supervises the program areas of BMH2H and is also responsible for fundraising, development, and evaluation of the agency. He has overseen a broad expansion of HIV case management services into Asotin and Garfield counties,  prevention programs into the Tri-Cities and Clarkston, and an innovative, outpatient opioid recovery program in across six counties in Southeast Washington that serves as the basis for the new Health Engagement Hub pilot program. He serves as a technical assistance provider on the Law Enforcement-Assisted Diversion (LEAD) program expansion in Washington State. He has worked on quality improvement projects for various federal and state agencies for more than 30 years.

Holli Francis

Supervisory Case Manager, Ryan White Program

Holli has spent over 20 years working with vulnerable populations in Pennsylvania, Oregon and Florida. She is happy to be back in the Pacific Northwest and enjoys working with clients in the Ryan White Program. 

Patti Dobyns, MSW

Case Manager, Ryan White Program

Patti has experience as a social worker and designated crisis responder, and is our Case Manager in Clarkson for the Ryan White Program, supporting individuals living with HIV/AIDS. She also manages our SSP in Clarkston. Patti loves animals of all kinds, and has chickens and a lizard.

Rubi Villegas

Case Manager, Ryan White Program

Rubi comes to us from Akin where she has experience providing navigation and support for families and individuals. She is now working on our Ryan White Program and is also managing our housing assistance program through Housing and Urban Development. Rubi likes crafts and writing when she is not supporting our clients.

Marissa Cosaert

Counselor, multiple programs

Marissa is a graduate of Walla Walla University and is working toward her independent clinical licensure. She has experience at our agency from her previous positions, working with people with HIV/AIDS and with people in other vulnerable groups.

Allison Bauer, MD

Clinical Director, Health Engagement Hub

Dr. Bauer completed her residency at the Madison Clinic in Seattle, and is a board-certified Internist, with experience in infectious disease treatment, gender-affirming care, and chronic disease management. She comes to BMHTH having supported our clinic weekly since 2022. With Dr. Bauer’s expertise BMHTH is increasing its capability to offer primary care services for our target patient populations, and stronger linkage to reproductive care with local partners.

Liz Fraser, MSW

Program Manager, Health Engagement Hub
Liz Fraser

Liz comes to BMH2H with an MSW from Columbia University. She currently is responsible for non-medical management of our Health Engagement Hub, working alongside Dr. Bauer. She has a long history of philanthropic work in Walla Walla and is dedicated to excellent care for our substance-dependent clients.

Lisa Pierson

Case Manager, Meds First Program

Lisa is our Case Manager in our Kennewick office on the Meds First program, working with individuals who have opioid use disorder and are looking to enter recovery. Her background in health care is being put to good use for her current clients.

Tawnie Toroni, RN

Nurse Case Manager, Meds First Program

Tawnie is the Nurse Case Manager for our Meds First Program in Kennewick, working with providers in the Tri-Cities and Walla Walla to help individuals get treatment for opioid use disorder, and support their continued engagement in the program. Tawnie’s cheery disposition is a front for a fierce determination to help our clients.

Melissa Cross, RN

Lead Nurse, Health Engagement Hub
Melissa Cross

Melissa is the Nurse Case Manager for our Drug User Health Equity Program, working on our mobile medical clinic to help people who use substances better medical and preventive health care. Melissa is great at working with people, and has a passion for non-judgmental clinical support.

Chad Walker, SUDP

SUDP, Health Engagement Hub

Chad comes to us with 24 years of experience with assessments, counseling, and group counseling. He is very good at working with people and is excited to work in the Walla Walla community.

Delia Frey, MSW

Field Counselor, multiple programs

Delia provides individual counseling in the field, via Telehealth, and at her office. She prioritizes connecting with individuals who have hesitancy about seeing a counselor, and uses a variety of therapies to meet clients where they are. Delia is completing her hours toward her individual licensure. She received her MSW from Walla Walla University.

Rebeca Michael, MPH

Program Manager, Diversion Programs
Rebeca Michael

Rebeca has served in several roles at BMHTH and is now our Program Manager for our Arrest and Jail Alternatives Program and our Recovery Navigator Program, managing a team of nine. Previously Rebeca helped assess the efficacy of agency work, client outcomes, and program data quality.

Malia Lewis, MSW

Drug Checking Technician and SSP Manager, Drug User Health Equity

Malia is our inaugural Drug Checking Technician, using a spectrometer to help people who use substances know what is in those substances before use, to help prevent accidental overdose and increase awareness of the risks of the regional underground drug market. She is also responsible for keeping our regional SSPs stocked with supplies to support our program participants. She is not averse to having a glittery unicorn on her desk.

Alejandra Mejia

Risk Reduction Coordinator

Alejandra supports participants at our syringe services program in Kennewick, providing prevention materials and referrals to services. One of our bilingual staff, she has made strong connections with Latino/a/x participants to help increase linkage to care for that population.

Till Gwinn

Risk Reduction Coordinator

Many people in Walla Walla saw Till as a roving poet who would write poems on the fly at a local coffeehouse. He also had experience in therapeutic communities for people with substance dependence. Till now works at our Walla Walla harm reduction program, where poems have started appearing along with rescue medication.

Derek Grieb

Outreach and Engagement Manager, Diversion Programs

Derek comes to us with experience as an SUDP-T and as a peer. He is excited to help people engage in intensive case management to set a new path for themselves..

Thomas Gonzalez

Case Manager, Recovery Navigator Program

Thomas Gonzalez is a certified peer who comes to BMHTH by way of supporting clients in recovery programs. Thomas is also an avid NY Yankees and LA Raiders fan, and attended Shoepalooza in 2022. He is very good at meeting clients where they are and helping them find greater stability in their lives. Thomas provides intensive case management to clients for housing support, food and nutritional assistance, workforce re-entry assistance, mental health support, and substance use treatment referrals for the diversion programs of BMHTH.

Angela Queen

Case Manager, Arrest and Jail Alternatives Program

Angela Queen formerly worked at Trilogy Recovery Community, where she helped clients in group counseling sessions and handled peer coaching. Angie is great at boundary setting with clients and helping them access local services as part of their taking greater action to make longterm changes in their lives.

Maggie Nicholson

Care Coordinator

Maggie Nicholson has experience in education, including team sports, and is great at helping clients organize and prioritize their goals. Maggie is great at helping clients work through a positive goal-setting process and helping answer their questions about medical insurance.

Brittany Edgmand

Case Manager, Recovery Navigator Program

Brittany Edgmand formerly worked at a mental health facility, where she helped clients in practical living skills, educational, behavioral health, and skill-building groups. She has skills crisis and treatment planning. Brittany provides intensive case management to clients for housing support, food and nutritional assistance, workforce re-entry assistance, mental health support, and substance use treatment referrals for the diversion programs of BMHTH.

Thomas Hobbs

Case Manager, Recovery Navigator Program

Thomas Hobbs is an avid fisherman and sports enthusiast; he is an Oregon State, SF Giants, and IN Colts fan. Thomas has acclimated from one fast-paced environment of customer service to the fast-paced environment of the LEAD Program and is good at helping clients work through a positive goal-setting process. Thomas provides intensive case management to clients for housing support, food and nutritional assistance, workforce re-entry assistance, mental health support, and substance use treatment referrals for the diversion programs of BMHTH.

Danielle Hill

Case Manager, Arrest and Jail Alternatives Program

Danielle Hill is a certified peer counselor who has experience in therapeutic and court advocacy for housed and unhoused individuals, specifically with severe mental illness and substance use disorder. Danielle has a Masters in marriage and family therapy with experience working with providing trauma-informed care to youth, adults, and families in crisis due to domestic violence, sexual assault/abuse/exploitation, mental health disorders, substance use disorder, and poverty. She has provided mobile crisis intervention, mental health services, and systems advocacy to individuals living on the street. Danielle currently provides intensive case management to clients for housing support, food and nutritional assistance, workforce re-entry assistance, mental health support, and substance use treatment referrals for the diversion programs of BMHTH.

Shay Hoffman

Court Liasion, Diversion Programs
Shay Hoffman

Shay Hoffman is our Court Liaison with Walla Walla District Court, helping refer individuals into our diversion programs with the guidance of court officers. He has experience working with at-risk youth on the reservation, and a has psychology background.

Jesse Betts

Peer Specialist, Adult Recovery Court

Jesse Betts is a certified peer counselor who provides support to individuals in the Walla Walla County Adult Recovery Court program. Jesse engages individuals in personalized, peer-to-peer relationships to support them in navigating systems, resources, and services, including education, employment and social activities. 

Christa Bradford, RN

Nurse Case Manager, Walla Walla County Jail

Christa comes to us with robust experience delivering nursing care in corrections facilities. She is experienced with complicated medication dispensing, and is a compassionate caregiver, working well with patients who have trauma and high acuity.

Cristina Guzman, MA-C

Medical Assistant, Walla Walla County Jail

Cristina formerly worked at Walla Walla Clinic and comes to us as a very organized medical assistant, helping with multiple medication passes every day for the adult jail patients, and supporting the onsite jail nurse. She has an eye for detail and is a critical part of the substance use disorder treatment program in this corrections setting.

Crystal Chi

Crystal’s long tenure at BMHTH includes serving as supervisory case manager for our flagship HIV/AIDS case management program. Her role currently includes serving as the agency’s first-ever Human Resources Manager, focusing on supporting staff across our offices in Southeast Washington. Crystal has a BA in sociology, and an active HR credential, and has worked at BMHTH since June 2014.

Sophie Webster

Finance Manager

Our Finance Manager provides support to our Board’s Finance Committee and ensures compliance with all grant and government requirements. Sophie comes to us from Walla Walla University and has experience in accounts receivable and payable, and nonprofit accounting. She also manages payroll and benefits for BMHTH.
